350.org reports the millionth public comment was submitted to the State Department opposing the Keystone XL pipeline mid-morning, April 22nd —Earth Day! Soon after, the EPA put out a statement that called the State Department’s first analysis of the pipeline ‘insufficient,’ pointing out that they got the numbers wrong on the risk of oil spills and the climate impact of the pipeline. That’s a sure sign the relentless pressure is having an impact, and that’s THE POWER OF YOU!

Today begins the State Department’s 10-day comment period for the XL Keystone Pipeline. The goal is 1 million comments by the end of the comment period and you may comment more than once.
Because the State Department’s review of the project has been far more political than scientific, the facts are being underscored through the comment process to make a clear case to the President, whose job is to decide whether the pipeline is in the US national interest. The Calgary, Alberta based TransCanada Corporation behind the development of the pipeline, has shown that it is not. In filings to the State Department and contracts with refiners, they’ve spelled out their plans to enhance their profits by exporting it to the international market where it will fetch a higher price —profiting big oil and accelerating tar sands development in Canada.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we regret to inform you that late last night President Barack Obama signed H.R. 993, which contained the Monsanto Protection Act into law. This is an outrage that will not go unanswered.
While we are still waiting to hear from the administration all the final details, we understand at this time that Section 735, the Monsanto biotech rider is intact.
President Obama knowingly signed the Monsanto Protection Act over the insistence of more than 250,000 Americans who signed an urgent letter asking that he use his executive authority to veto H.R. 933 and send it back to Congress to remove the Monsanto Protection Act from the bill. Regretfully, President Obama failed to live up to his oath to protect the American people and our constitution.
Today we’re calling on President Obama to issue an executive order to call for the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods.
Tell President Obama that you’re outraged that he signed the Monsanto Protection Act and it’s time to label GMOs!

We regret to inform you, but late last week Congress succeeded in passing Section 735, aka the Monsanto Protection Act, in the Continuing Resolution spending bill.
We need you to contact President Obama before he signs it and HR 933 becomes law.
With the passage of the Monsanto Protection Act in Congress, biotech lobbyists are one step closer to making sure that their new GMO crops can evade any serious scientific or regulatory review.
This dangerous provision, which we’re calling the Monsanto Protection Act, strips judges of their constitutional mandate to protect consumer rights and the environment, while opening up the floodgates for the planting of new untested genetically engineered crops, endangering farmers, consumers and the environment.
